Terrior…The Essential Sense of
Place
45.5 x 51.5 inches
Cotton fabrics (some hand dyed by Judy Robertson), variegated
decorative threads
Wine lovers use the French term ”terrior”
to describe all of the essential environmental conditions
that give a wine its distinctive taste. The color, texture
and organic nature of fabric seemed an appropriate way
to express that idea.
Completed February, 2006—not exhibited as yet.

August, 2005
61 x 51 inches
Cotton fabrics, raw edge machine applique, machine stitching
My daughter-in-law, Rebecca Carner took a photo of twins Leo and Toby on the Mississippi Gulf Coast just 10 days before this area was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. This quilt preserves the memory of that beautiful day, but frayed edges and haphazard patchwork symbolize a place that will never be the same.
Exhibited:
Husqvarna Gallery of Quilt Art 2007 International Quilt Festival, Houston, TX
